Beta Phi Mu Spring / Summer 2014 News

Welcome to the SLIM Beta Epsilon informational blog!  Beta Epsilon is the Emporia State University, School of Library and Information Management chapter of Beta Phi Mu, the national library and information studies honor society.  The purpose of the Beta Epsilon chapter is to recognize high scholarship in the study of librarianship, and to sponsor appropriate professional and scholarly projects.

Beta Phi Mu, the national organization, was founded in 1948 to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement among library and information studies students.  Our name comes from the Greek words, Bibliothekarios philax mathesis, meaning librarians are the guardians of knowledge.

Beta Phi Mu recently announced that the Spring / Summer 2014 edition of The Pipeline, the national newsletter, is now published.  Use this link, Spring / Summer 2014 Pipeline –to view it.  In this edition, read about various chapter activities including an article about ESU SLIM’s Beta Epsilon Chapter on page 11.  Past issues are available by clicking on the Beta Phi Mu Pipeline link found on the Blogroll to the right.

Also on the Blogroll you will find links to our local chapter, Beta Epsilon’s website, our Facebook group page, and an RSS button to subscribe to this blog.  We plan to feature chapter and national information as well as a few interviews with Beta Phi Mu members.  Watch for more updates throughout the fall.
